Main Line Animal Rescues Guide to Adoption:

Finding Your Perfect Match

We want every one of our dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals to find the home that is best suited for them. But not every animal will do well in every home. There is a knack to finding a good match and we pride ourselves on taking care to do just that. Some people are disappointed when we tell them that they may not be a good match for a particular dog or when they are turned down for lack of a fence. A fence is necessary because so many of our dogs were once strays. Other families may be out of our adoption area, making it difficult to conduct our required home visit and our post-adoption follow-ups. If this is the case, then MLAR encourages potential adopters to visit and support the shelters in their areas. There are many reasons why we may not be able to help every person who fills out one of our applications, but the comfort and safety of the pets in our care must be our number one concern. Your understanding is appreciated and please rest assured that hundreds of qualified families with fenced yards and great vet references do leave with our dogs and cats every year. If you understand the commitment required and are now ready to adopt and care for a pet, and you think we may have an animal that's right for you, here is how it works…
